No two waves at Teahupo'o ever look the same. Light, wind, tide and swell direction shift the shape and mood of the reef constantly, and some days the conditions simply align.

This was one of those days. Clean light, a clean surface and a wave holding its full line across the reef from entry to exit. A symmetry the reef occasionally allows, for exactly as long as it chooses.

The wave draws its energy from deep Pacific swell before meeting one of the shallowest and most unforgiving reefs in surfing. Even in its most beautiful form, the reef is always present beneath it.
