“Just Add Water.”
Ted Grambeau is an internationally recognised commercial and editorial photographer with four decades of experience working in, on, around and under water. His key genres include active lifestyle, portraiture, swimwear, action sports and surf adventure. Ted specialises in extreme locations and complex shoots, bringing technical rigour, creative problem solving and a photojournalistic eye to every assignment.
With a formal photographic education from RMIT University (Melbourne) and early experience assisting legendary Magnum photographer Burt Glinn in New York, Ted blends strong technical foundations with the intuition of a visual storyteller. His passion is simple: to create visually powerful, emotionally evocative imagery that speaks to movement, light and place.
Selected Clients & Commissions
Apple · Rip Curl · Speedo · Red Bull · Nikon · Quiksilver · Zoggs · Billabong · BMW · Patagonia · and numerous editorial and commercial partners worldwide.
Ted’s long experience as a waterman — years of photographing in surf impact zones — informs his work today, whether producing intimate abstract water studies, high-energy surf sequences or considered commercial imagery.
Approach & Process
Ted approaches every assignment with preparation, on-location discipline and an emphasis on collaboration. He works with professional labs for archival print production, and offers bespoke consultation for commercial and large-format projects (hotels, corporate, hospitality and interior commissions). For collectors and clients, prints are produced to museum-standard specifications and delivered ready for professional mounting and framing.
Data & AI Use Statement
At Ted Grambeau Photography, all creative decisions, image selections and artistic choices are guided by Ted’s lived experience, visual craft and decades of work in surf and ocean photography. AI is used only as a supportive tool to streamline written content, improve clarity and manage descriptive information across the website.
AI tools never make aesthetic choices, modify original photographs or influence the creative intent behind Ted’s work. Image editing, colour grading and all artistic decisions remain entirely human-made. Any data used by AI tools is limited to the text and prompts we provide; no external customer data, analytics data or personal information is shared with or processed by AI systems.
Our goal is to ensure that technology supports the storytelling of Ted’s photography without replacing the authenticity, craft, or lived experience behind every image.
