‘Just Add Water’
Ted Grambeau is an internationally recognised commercial and editorial photographer with over four decades of experience working in, on, around and under water.
His work spans active lifestyle, portraiture, swimwear and surf adventure, often produced in extreme or technically demanding environments where timing, intuition and control are critical. Known for his ability to operate in high energy conditions, Ted brings a balance of technical precision, creative problem solving and a photojournalistic sensibility to every assignment.
Formally trained at RMIT University in Melbourne, Ted’s early career included assisting renowned Magnum photographer Burt Glinn in New York, an experience that helped shape both his technical foundation and instinct for visual storytelling.
At the core of his work is a simple intention: to create imagery that feels immediate and alive, capturing the relationship between movement, light and place.

Experience in the Water
Ted’s background as a dedicated waterman continues to inform his work today. Years spent shooting in surf impact zones and unpredictable ocean environments have developed a deep understanding of timing, positioning and flow, whether capturing high energy surf sequences, refined commercial imagery or abstract studies of water and form.
Approach & Process
Each project is approached with preparation, clarity and collaboration. Ted works closely with clients, creative teams and production partners to ensure both creative and technical outcomes are aligned from concept through to delivery.
All prints are produced in collaboration with professional labs to exhibition grade archival standards. Ted also offers consultation for large scale installations and commercial projects, including hotels, corporate environments and interior spaces.
