Between Forces
The Atlantic rarely arrives in a single direction. Swell advancing from deep water, backwash returning from the shoreline, energy meeting energy beneath a darkening sky. For a brief moment, the ocean gathers itself into something that feels less like a wave and more like a structure rising from within the water, held between movement and stillness.
Light reaches the face of the formation unevenly, revealing shape before detail. Shadow settles into the folds, giving weight to something that cannot be held, while the contrast between dark sky and white spray creates a form that appears almost permanent, despite being shaped by forces that are constantly changing.
Some forms exist only long enough to remind us that permanence has never been a requirement for significance.
