Dark Matter

The same coastline, the same collision of swell and backwash beneath the Nazaré cliffs. But rendered in black and white, something shifts.

A near-spherical mass of water rises from the turbulent surface, the lit face sharp and fully detailed on the left while the back half falls into deep shadow. The contrast between the two is absolute. No colour to soften the transition, an expression of form, of light and darkness.

Not the largest formation or the most dramatic spray, but the one that demands the longest look.
