Inside the barrel, the wave folds into smooth reflective walls that wrap around him as he settles into his line. There is a sense of rhythm here, Balaram moving with the section as it builds and runs through the reef, the surface of the wave holding a clarity that Teahupo'o doesn't always offer.

This is a different expression of the wave. Not the weight and consequence the reef is known for, but a brief window where timing, position and flow come together inside a barrel that is, for this moment, almost completely still.
