There were whispers on the breeze of a Spring release, however the hint of travel in the air was stronger.
Like all things in life, change is inevitable and embracing new ideas and technology has been apart of my photographic journey. 'Beyond' is a big project and one that I'm excited to be working on. When it lands you'll be rewarded with rich and diverse imagery, cultural insights and many a tall story.
The new website Ted Grambeau Photography is the home for my BEYOND project, while my other website Ted Grambeau will feature my commercial photographic portfolio.
The desire to wander the planet in search of new experiences runs deep. Those who have this in their blood will understand the need to explore, to travel and discover new locations all over the world. I started my travel/photography journey back in 1981 and I now feel it's time to share these images and a more extensive insight into experiences of life on the road and my travels.
It's been a journey in itself to rediscover the archives of images and slides that have accumulated from the many trips and discovery expeditions. With images captured at a time when you had to have a deep understanding of light and photography, before digital photography existed and some locations discovered for the first time, before they were cool and popular.
I've been away, up in the air, on the road and in the water for the last three months. Like all things in life, it is the journey not the destination that rewards us with greater meaning.
The 'Wave of Consequence' series is a monster, with images from remote waves in the Southern Ocean – Cyclops and beyond. The deadly perfect reef break Teahupoo, Tahiti and the violent yet spectacular side of Waimea Shore Break, Hawaii.
Congratulations to John Harney from WA, he will be receiving in the mail a 'Cyclops' poster print from the Ted Grambeau Photography shop. John was the lucky winner to the latest Instagram giveaway - remember to follow @tedgrambeau and @journey.beyond on Instagram to find out when the next competition is on.
